Playing with Light on White Palette

This modern, floating, open-tread staircase brings the light-filled and open qualities of the main living space into the entrance area. Glass walls and railings allow light to traverse the area, while unobtrusive stainless-steel hardware doesn’t distract from the more subtle contrasts and shadows against the home’s white palette. The treads themselves, often seen in very dark woods as a source of contrast to bright, white rooms, are a lighter color here, sharing attention with the shadows. On the second floor, the use of glass allows for the loft area to enjoy not just terrific light, but a beautiful view into the yard.
